Shawna Welsh was born in Richmond, BC, Canada, as the eldest of 2 children of a RCMP father John Welsh (from Ottawa, On.) and Chief Investigator mother Sherry (from Vancouver, BC). Shawna has a brother named Thomas. Due to her fathers occupation, the family moved around constantly, her family finally settled in Abbotsford, British Columbia. At the age of 14, her parents divorced.

She is of Irish, Scottish, Danish (mother), German, Russian, and Welsh (Father) ancestry. 

 

During School she partook in a career advancement program in which she joined the Canadian Military and received basic training. Her academic achievements and fireball personality allowed her to achieve several post graduate accomplishments.

 

Acting has always been a passion from a very young age for Shawna. She starred in several school plays and dinner theatre productions as a child and young adult. It wasn’t until her adult years that she actively began to pursue her aspirations of working in the film industry and in 2010 was cast as a bubbly naive actress in the web series "The Actress Diaries". She has since been in many independent full length features, short films, and web series. 

Shawna has spent the last 3 years studying with acting coaches Matthew Harrison, Jeb Beach, and Jewelle Colwell.

She credits most of her ambition, focus and drive to her years of training as a competitive gymnast.

 

Shawna loves the “Love146" charity that works towards the abolition of child trafficking and exploitation through prevention & survivor care, she hopes to one day have a bigger voice to help spread awareness and have greater impact.
